Film Synopsis
One summer, two solitary children come across a small undisturbed lake which exerts
a sudden and intense control over them. It is a magical place, a
strange wilderness inhabited by unfamiliar living things, as though in
a dream. As the two children succumb to the mysterious charms of
this lonely spot, they get to know one another better and find
themselves transformed by what they experience...
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
In the 1910s, French cinema led the way with a new industry which actively encouraged innovation. From the serials of Louis Feuillade to the first auteur pieces of Abel Gance, this decade is rich in cinematic marvels.
In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
