Film Review
Jacques Nolot's second film as a director is in marked contrast to his first film, the
thoughtful and rather moving drama
L'Arrière-pays (1998).
With its narrow scope, confined setting and ugly cinematography,
La Chatte à deux têtes feels like an exercise in pointless artistic
self-indulgence, tedious to watch and frustratingly self-conscious. The main difficulty
with the film is that it's not at all clear what statement Nolot is trying to make, and
it just feels like an inexperienced and unimaginative filmmaker having a go at playing
the auteur just for the sake of it.

Film Synopsis
In a sleazy pornographic cinema on the Place Clichy in Paris, the bored Spanish
ticket seller recounts her entire life story to her attentive admirer, a
young and somewhat naive projectionist. The amiable exchange is interrupted
by the sudden appearance of a charismatic man in his fifties for whom the
ticket seller has a particular fondness. The older man uses his influence
over the eager-to-please Spanish woman to get her to procure attractive young
men for him, as it turns out he has very specific sexual requirements.
The good-looking projectionist would suit him nicely...
