L'Ombre d'une chance (1974)
Directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky

Drama
aka: Shadow of a Chance

Film Synopsis

Having just turned forty, Mathias decides to give up his well-paid job as an electronics engineer and start a new, less predictable life as a dealer in second-hand goods.  His young wife Sandra seems to approve of the change and the freedom it brings them, in particular freedom from the constraints of a humdrum bourgeois life.  Returning home one day after a journey, Mathias and Sandra find that Mathias's son Michel and his girlfriend Odile have taken up residence in their home.  Students, Michel and Odile take an immediate interest in Mathias's unusual lifestyle and wonder if this extends to free love.  As Odile manoeuvres to start something with Mathias, Michel forces his attentions on Sandra, creating a rift between father and son that cannot end well...
