Film Synopsis

A woman and her somewhat oafish husband attend a society gathering hosted by a wealthy lawyer.  In their host's absence, the husband becomes impatient and abandons his wife on the pretext that he has a vital business meeting to get to.  Once the husband has gone, the host appears and throws himself on the wife, showering her with ardent declarations of love.  He insists that she must come to him later that evening, at nine o'clock.  She agrees, but at the appointed time she fails to keep the appointment.

In a state of anguish bordering on desperation, the lawyer telephones his beloved and entreats her to come to him as soon as she can.  She appears at once and they spend a night of passionate lovemaking together.  The next morning, the wife is alarmed to find that she has overslept.  Before she can get dressed, her husband turns up unexpectedly.  Is it possible he has already discovered her infidelity?  No, the husband is here to enlist the lawyer's professional services in a matter of some urgency.  It seems that the husband desperately needs an alibi for the previous night...
