Film Synopsis

Nassima Hablal, one of the forgotten heroines in Algeria's long hard struggle for independence, talks of her part in the bitter war that France would never come to accept as such.  She was just 16 when she joined the Algerian People's Party, not long after it was formed just after WWII.  At the time, it was rare for women to involve themselves in such a political campaign, but the desire to see her country free was one that she could not suppress.  She recalls with affection her former allies in the struggle - Baya, a nurse actively involved in the resistance movement, and Nelly, a social worker busily employed in the country's slums.  Nassisma's reminiscences not only shed considerable light on Algeria's fight for freedom, they also prompts us to consider what freedom really is and at price it should be sought.
