Biography: life and films

Walerian Borowczyk was a Polish film director and screenwriter. He was born in Kwilcz, Wielkopolskie, Poland on 2nd September 1923 and died in Paris, France on 3rd February 2006, aged 82.

His best films as a film director include Les astronautes (1959), Le dictionnaire de Joachim (1965), Goto, l'île d'amour (1968), L'armoire (1979) and Docteur Jekyll et les femmes (1981), and whose best work as a screenwriter include Holy Smoke (1963), Les jeux des anges (1965), Goto, l'île d'amour (1968), La Marge (1976) and Interno di un convento (1978).

Walerian Borowczyk directed 28 films (including 15 shorts), scripted 26 films and was cinematographer on 1 film.
