Paul Muni was an Austrian-American actor whose birth name was Frederich Meshilem Meier Weisenfreund. He was born in Lviv, Ukraine on 22nd September 1895 and died in Montecito, California, USA on 25th August 1967, aged 71.

His best films as an actor include Mervyn LeRoy's I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932), Howard Hawks's crime-thriller Scarface (1932), William Dieterle's Juarez (1939), Irving Pichel's Hudson's Bay (1941) and John Farrow's Commandos Strike at Dawn (1942).
