Biography: life and films

Akira Kurosawa was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan on 23rd March 1910 and died in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan on 6th September 1998, aged 88.

His best films as a screenwriter include Throne of Blood (1957), Yojimbo (1961), Sanjuro (1962), High and Low (1963) and Richard Fleischer's Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), and whose best work as a film director include Stray Dog (1949), The Lower Depths (1957), The Hidden Fortress (1958) and Sanjuro (1962).

Akira Kurosawa scripted 26 films and directed 20 films.
