Synopsis
By the side of the pool at his luxury villa, Alain Durieux sits in his
wheelchair, quietly contemplating his past life whilst his wife
subjects herself to the over-attentive care of their friend, Dr
Valois. To think that Alain was once a third rate insurance
broker, living a humdrum life with nothing to look forward to. In
the end, Alain was so depressed that he made up his mind to kill
himself. It was at this crucial moment that Dr Valois entered his
life and invited him to act as a guinea pig in an experimental trial
for a new anti-depressant treatment. Valois believed that by
making slight modifications to the brain he could make people happy
forever. With nothing to lose, Alain submitted himself to the
treatment and, to his surprise, he was transformed into a completely
new man...
