Summary
The Emperor Nero has no time for matters of state. Rome can take
care of itself. He is a disciple of art and to him leisure is
sacred. Nero’s greatest pleasure is to indulge his craving for
music in the company of his mistress Poppea. His former
tutor Seneca makes a valliant attempt to open his eyes to his responsibilities,
but in vain...
