Summary

Jack Baker arrives in Tahiti to write a new biography on the painter Paul Gauguin. Here, he meets Cohn, a con artist who is trying to pass himself off as one of Gauguin’s descendents. Baker is not taken in by Cohn’s crude deception at first, but later he begins to have his doubts...
