Synopsis
At their barracks at Montauban in 1906, Patard, the humble orderly of
Colonel Touplard, and his two friends, Pomme and Salé, are the
laziest soldiers in the 11th Company. The Colonel, an old soldier
who is used to pushing his men to the limits of their endurance, has
just received instructions from his superiors to improve morale by
organising some leisure activities. He decides to stage a
production of a play written by his sister Hortensia, a play
auspiciously titled The Roman Orgy.
The hero of the piece will be played by Parard, with Pomme and
Salé in supporting roles. The three reluctant soldiers are
not slow to realise that this skirmish with amateur dramatics will
allow them to evade their more arduous duties...
