Les Blessures assassines (2000)

Les Blessures assassines is a French crime film first released in 2000, directed by Jean-Pierre Denis.  The film is based on a novel by Paulette Houdyer and stars Sylvie Testud, Julie-Marie Parmentier, Isabelle Renauld, Dominique Labourier and François Levantal.  It has also been released under the title: Murderous Maids.  Our overall rating for this film is: very good.


Christine and Léa Papin are two sisters who are prepared to take on any menial work to support themselves and their self-absorbed mother.  In 1927, they are hired as housemaids by Madame Lancelin, who, despite her severity, appears to Christine to be the perfect mother.   Over the next few years, life becomes increasingly strained for the two sisters as their own mother aggravates their growing resentment at being servants for the rich.  In 1933, the story reaches its tragic climax, as Christine and Léa savagely murder their employer and her daughter...
