Summary
Christine and Léa Papin are two sisters who are prepared to take on any menial work to support themselves and their self-absorbed mother.  In 1927, they are hired as housemaids by Madame Lancelin, who, despite her severity, appears to Christine to be the perfect mother.   Over the next few years, life becomes increasingly strained for the two sisters as their own mother aggravates their growing resentment at being servants for the rich.  In 1933, the story reaches its tragic climax, as Christine and Léa savagely murder their employer and her daughter...
