Synopsis
Henri Arnaud, the judge of a children’s court in Aix-en-Provence, takes an interest in a young law student, André, who shares his surname but no family connection.  André’s fortunes take a turn for the worse when the uncle who has been paying for his studies dies whilst working on a building site.  The promising young student has no choice but to borrow money from an unscrupulous antiquarian.  When the latter attempts to bribe André, the student overreacts and unintentionally kills him...

Film Review
In one of his rare dramatic roles, Bourvil gives a sympathetic performance in a film that combines melodrama and social realism to a moderate degree of success.  The film’s moralistic subtext is somewhat laboured but it is an engaging piece, even if it seems to belong to an earlier decade.
