Le démon de midi (2005) - film review

A Parisian couple, Anna and Julien have been together for 15 years.  Theirs has been a harmonious union which has resulted in an angelic son and many happy memories.  Then, one day, Anna realises that Julien no longer feels for her as he once did.  She becomes increasingly convinced that he is seeing another woman and when she confronts him he makes his confession.  Julien is in love – madly in love – but not with Anna...

There is not a great deal to commend this insipid comedy, which brazenly retreads some very familiar territory with a singular lack of charm and imagination.  With unsympathetic lead characters, a cliché-riddled script and a style of direction that would be considered amateurish even for a cheap television film, Le démon de midi does little if anything to engage its audience.
