Summary
Goumic, his wife Anne and his brother-in-law Malju are delighted when they learn they have inherited a grand old house in a park setting at a popular spa town.  They agree to sell the house to a minister who is keen to own a residence in the town, but first they must undertake some costly restoration work as the house is presently in a badly dilapidated state.   Goumic and Malju hand over the building work to a company owned by Bordin, the mayor of the town, not knowing that Bordin has set his sights on buying the house at a knockdown price.   Thanks to Bordin’s connivance, the building work proceeds at a snail’s pace and its owners are forced to hire their own builders - but this only adds to their problems...
