Summary
Louis Le Bison has just moved into his new Parisian apartment.  He likes his beauty sleep and is not pleased when his next door neighbour and concierge, Dorine, wakes him with her vacuum cleaner.   Pregnant with her fifth child, Dorine is thrown into a turmoil when her husband runs off with Louis’s girlfriend.  Fortunately, Louis is there to help her through the ensuing crisis...

Once again another well-known actor turns her hand to directing, and once again you hear yourself wishing that she had stuck to the day job.  Isabelle Nanty makes a spirited directorial debut here but, hampered by a banal and contrived plot, she has an uphill struggle delivering anything that would attract an audience.  Her co-star Edouard Baer (otherwise a great actor) looks bored throughout and mouths his lines with no real conviction, although Nanty’s own performance is, as ever, beyond reproach.  Le Bison clearly had some potential and, in the hands of a more experienced director, might have worked.  For a directorial first shot, however, it is sadly something of a misfire.
