Overview
La Maternelle is a French film first released in 1933,
directed by Jean Benoît-Lévy and Marie Epstein.
The film is based on a novel by Leon Frapie and stars Madeleine Renaud, Alice Tissot, Paulette Élambert, Sylvette Fillacier and Mady Berry.
It has also been released under the title: Children of Montmartre.

Synopsis
A series of personal disasters leaves a young woman, Rose, without money, family or home.
After the death of her bankrupt father, she finds work as an attendant in a nursery school
for children in a deprived area of Paris. Here she befriends a little girl, Marie,
the unwanted daughter of a prostitute. The bond between Marie and Rose becomes so
great that when the latter decides to marry Dr Libois, the little girl tries to kill herself...
