Synopsis
Despite her modest background and inexperience, Ethel is determined to become an actress.
She auditions for a part in a film to be directed by Lucas Kesling, a prominent German
filmmaker. Ethel is given a part in the film, but she soon realises that she may
not live up to Kesling’s expectations...
Film Review
In common with many of Andrzej Zulawski’s films, La
Femme publique is virtually unwatchable – an artistically self-indulgent morass
of muddle lacking any kind of narrative cohesion and looking, for the most part, like
a misguided attempt to extort art from tawdry pornography.
