Summary
Serge Mouret has taken up the position of parish priest in the village
of Artauds. The locals have little interest in religion and the
church is empty most of the time. The experience of living in
such a heathen community drives Mouret to have a nervous
breakdown. Having completely lost his memory, he is placed in the
care of the people at a nearby rundown mansion. Here, not knowing
who he is, Mouret falls in love with the innocent young woman who looks
after him...
