Summary
At a family reunion to celebrate his eightieth birthday, Carlo revisits
his past and recalls moments of joy and despair. He remembers his
love affairs with Adriana and Béatrice, the turbulence and drama
that came with Fascism, and the anxieties that took hold of him when
his children were growing up. The family has been his life, his
most cherished thing, but how things have changed....
