Overview
L’Escalier sans fin is a French film comedy-drama first released in 1943,
directed by Georges Lacombe.
The film stars Pierre Fresnay, Madeleine Renaud, Suzy Carrier, Raymond Bussières and Colette Darfeuil.

Synopsis
Pierre works at the Arizona cabaret and is in love with Florence, a
circus and cabaret artiste who is also having an affair with
Stéphane. One evening, Pierre and Florence get into a
heated argument. which ends with Florence injuring him with a
gun. Pierre’s wounds are treated by Emilienne, a social worker
who spends most of her time visiting the poor people of the
district. Emilienne shares an apartment with her younger sister
Anne, but as the latter is away, she allow Pierre to stay with
her. Having patched up his differences with Florence and
Stéphane, Pierre decides to take a bouquet of flowers to
Emilienne for her birthday. When he arrives at Emilienne’s
apartment, he is met by Anne, and is suddenly aware of an intense
attraction for her...
