L’Année sainte (1976)

L’Année sainte is a French-Italian film comedy first released in 1976, directed by Jean Girault.  The film stars Jean Gabin, Jean-Claude Brialy, Nicoletta Machiavelli, Henri Virlojeux and Paolo Giusti.  It has also been released under the title: Holy Year.  Our overall rating for this film is: mediocre.


Former gangster chief, Max Lambert, escapes from a Paris prison with his cell-mate, Pierre Bizet.  They travel to Rome and intend to profit from the mass pilgrimage of the Holy Year to recover Max’s hidden stash of money.  The operation does not go quite as smoothly as they had hoped...
