Il Cambio della guardia (1962)
Directed by Giorgio Bianchi, Sergio Leone

Comedy

Film Synopsis

In April 1943, the sound of gunfire shatters the peace of Ardea, a small town somewhere between Rome and Naples.  As the German troops retreat, the town's inhabitants consider the consequences of the liberation.  Mario Venicio is nominated mayor by the Fascists, but considers it prudent to give up his place to the innkeeper Attilio Capellaro.  The latter is not only a notorious anti-Fascist, he is also the town's bandleader, and his son is engaged to Venicio's daughter.  Events take an unexpected turn when the provisional mayor is accused of murdering a wealthy Fascist...
