Fatma (2002) - film review

Summary
Fatma is a 17-year-old girl who lives in Sfax with her father, brothers and sisters after the death of her mother.  The other member of the household is a cousin, Taher, who, one night, rapes Fatma.  Although traumatised by this ordeal, Fatma decides to pretend that nothing has happened.  She passes her exams and becomes a school teacher in a small village in the south of the country.  Here, she meets and falls in love with a talented young doctor.  Unfortunately, the constraints of the society in which they live look set to fracture their relationship...
