Synopsis
The vicar of the island of Sein returns to the mainland, discouraged by
the poor islanders who are driven to wreck passing boats

Thomas Gouvernec, a popular local fisherman, to take the place of the
vicar, and he eventually agrees to stand in until a new priest can be
found. Thomas then learns from his pregnant sister-in-law that
the child she is about to give birth to is not that of his brother, but
her lover...
