C'est beau une ville la nuit
2006 Comedy / Drama

![]() Review
A film that has "vanity project" written over it in bright green
fluorescent paint, C’est beau une
ville la nuit has little to commend it unless you happen to be
obsessed with Richard Bohringer or have strong sadomasochistic
tendencies. Based on Bohringer’s 1988 book, which defies
categorisation, being neither novel or autobiography, the film is just
as nebulous, intangible and pretentious. Road movie is perhaps
too grand a title for something that is as vague and vacuous as
this. Despite Bohringer’s immense skill as an actor, which is
complemented here by that of his daughter Romaine, this film is just
too painful to watch.
