Summary
Monsieur Maurice is the manager of a large department store in Paris.  A kind man, he takes under his wing 20-year-old René, a trainee shop assistant.  Life has been hard for René.  He lost his parents when he was a child and has grown up in an orphanage.   His dream is to become a blues guitarist.  This is the kind of music he likes best and he hopes that his guitar playing will allow him to win the affections of the girl he has fallen in love with, Nathalie.  Just when everything appears to be going well for René, his world suddenly falls apart.  Monsieur Maurice is forced to retire and is replaced by someone who is far less sympathetic.  His guitar hero dies.  And Nathalie rejects him...
