Aux yeux du souvenir (1948) - film review

A small private aeroplane crashes in the desert, not far from Dakar.  It is a miracle that the pilot, Jacques Forestier, and his mechanic, Paul Marcadour, survived, since both were drunk when they lost control of the plane.  With the help of a friend, Pierre Aubry, they are able to return to Paris on an Air France flight.  On board, Jacques meets a former lover, Claire Magny, whom he hasn’t seen for three years.  When he left Claire, she made an unsuccessful suicide attempt and then gave up her dreams of becoming an actress, finding work as an air hostess instead.  Jacques tries to rekindle their former romance, but she refuses and pretends to be in love with Pierre...
