Summary
When Amélie arrives in Paris to live with her Aunt Elisa, she
meets Pierre, a young actor who is keen to find out more about her and
discover why she is so melancholic. Pierre learns that, for
several years, Amélie has lived with her uncle Monsieur Boule,
who owns a hat shop, and her cousins Fanny and Alain. The latter
is a romantic who spends hours watching the sea and appearing to talk
to it. Fanny was raised by Aunt Elisa and has acquired all the
social graces. She tells Pierre that Amélie is suffering
from a personal crisis. One day, whilst walking by Mont St
Michel, Alain realised that he was in love with Amélie.
She too loved him, but her happiness was not to last long...
