À la guerre comme à la guerre is a French-Italian film comedy first released in 1972, directed by Bernard Borderie.  The film is based on a novel by Alexander Lernet-Holenia and stars Leonard Whiting, Curd Jürgens, Marianne Comtell, Sylvie Fennec and Silvia Dionisio.  It has also been released under the title: War Is Hell.  Our overall rating for this film is: mediocre.


During the war against Russia at the start of the 19th century, a young Austrian officer, Franz Keller, hopes to capitalise on his involvement in a daring military initiative to win the hand of a general’s daughter.  In the course of his mission, Keller allows himself to be drawn into no end of political and romantic intrigue...
